SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sistani answered a question about smoking at the place with a “smoking is forbidden” sign.
Question: In some buses and other vehicles is written “smoking is forbidden”, is smoking allowed in such places?
The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: if this case is depending on the implicit condition that the passenger in that vehicle has accepted, and/or such a thing is the govemental rule which after entering the country must be observed, it is necessary to act accordingly and doing the opposite is not allowed.

SHAFAQNA – The Houthi forces, backed by the Yemeni Republican Guard, seized a number of points inside the Midi Desert near the Saudi-Yemeni border today, advancing as far north as the Jizan Region of Saudi Arabia.
According to Al-Masdar’s Yemen War correspondent, Tony Toh, the Houthi forces and their allies killed 41 fighters from the Saudi-led Coalition on Monday after seizing a number of sites from the latter.
Making matters worse for the Saudi-led Coalition, the Houthi forces continued their advance in the Najran Valley, as they captured new points near the provincial capital.
The Saudi-led Coalition’s recent losses in the Jizan and Najran regions has taken a toll on their morale, as they struggle to beat back the anti-govement forces invading the southe part of their country.

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) message to the people on the Day of Ghadeer and its significance
The Introduction:
The day of Ghadeer (18th Zilhajj) is a very important day in the history of Islam and every Muslim irrespective of his sect or creed should be well versed with it. It is the day when in the words of Allah, the Almighty, He “perfected” His religion and “completed” His bounties on the people. The Almighty Allah declares in Surah Maidah (5) – Verse 3
الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلاَمَ دِينًا
“Today I have perfected your religion and completed my favour upon you, and I am satisfied that Islam be your religion.”

SHAFAQNA – Three UN Special Rapporteurs addressed in a letter to the Bahraini Govement “conceing” information about alleged pattes of continuous discrimination against Shia citizens (mainly Bahaa and Ajam), which have been taking place since 2011, and which are “undermining their rights to freedoms of religion, expression and culture;” in addition to the effect of the whole situation on the human rights of Shiites in the country.
The address published recently on the website of the commissioner was officially sent to the Govement of Bahrain at the end of October 2015 to enquire about the reports which the UN rapporteurs deemed conceing. A Paris-based illustrator and filmmaker who goes by the handle Maeril on Tumblr has posted a short and helpful illustrated how-to guide for bystanders who want to step in and help someone experiencing Islamophobic harassment in a public place. SHAFAQNA – If Yemen remains synonymous with unrest and violence thanks to the military deluge Saudi Arabia has insisted on drowning the impoverished nation under since late March 2015, Terror had yet to claim its fill of blood. SHAFAQNA- Do you know what your tears look like at a microscopic level? Dutch artist Maurice Mikkers does, and he’s been looking at hundreds of them. It seems that our tears can be as unique as snowflakes, and have a similar crystallised look under a microscope.
Mikkers was a lab technician before he went to art school, and has yet to find two tears that look alike. He’s also investigating how temperature, humidity, and even the cause of the crying can influence a tear’s structure.

SHAFAQNA – The first time he tried to escape a tough existence in his village in weste Myanmar in 2004, Junaid Zafar was thrown in jail for five years.
Like many other Rohingya Muslims, Zafar was seeking to flee poverty and persecution in Buddhist-majority Myanmar and he did not wait long after being released from jail to try again.

SHAFAQNA – The Saudi women who need their fathers, husbands and brothers’ permission to benefit their legal rights of working, studying and traveling, are now using social media in a bid to end males’ rule over their life.

SHAFAQNA – The first halal hotel in Bangkok is attracting Muslim visitors with the management hoping to tap deeper into a growing market.
Nearly 30 million foreign tourists came to Thailand last year but only about 658,000 were from the Middle East, according to industry data.
The four-star Al Meroz hotel in Bangkok, which opened in November, hopes to play its part in changing that, and to cash in.
“There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world. It’s a huge market,” said the hotel’s general manager, Sanya Saengboon.
“Just one percent of that market is enough for us to thrive.”
The , which boasts mosque-like architecture, has two prayer rooms and three halal dining halls.
Rooms cost from 4,000 baht all the way up to 50,000 baht (US$116 to $1,445) a night, said Mr Sanya.
A guest at the hotel, Aamir Fazal, 28, a security officer from Australia, said access to a halal hotel was a comfort to Muslim travelers in Thailand where halal food can be hard to find.

SHAFAQNA – Muslims from across Norway gathered on the island of Utøya to pray for victims of the Norway attacks.
Six years ago in 2011 34-year-old Anders Breivik shot and killed 69 people on the very same island. The Island is owned by Norway’s Labour party and most of Breivik’s victims were members of the Labour party’s youth wing.
On August 19, 2016, the country’s oldest Muslim Youth association hosted their aual youth retreat in union with the Labour party’s youth wing. During the retreat, the Muslim youth held a special prayer service in remembrance of the Norway attack victims and pledged to be law abiding and loyal Norwegians.

SHAFAQNA- A restaurant manager humiliates two Muslim women and refuses to serve them in Tremblay-en-France in the suburb of Paris on Saturday night, telling them “terrorists are Muslims and all Muslims are terrorists.”
One of the victims videotaped the shocking incident and shared it on social media. The video went viral and stirred the outrage of thousands of users.
The video does not record the incident from the begiing; it starts in the middle of a violent verbal attack from the manager.
When one of the veiled women said, “we do not want to be served by racists.” The manager came toward to her table and replied angrily, “Racists do not make bombs and do not kill people, racists like me.”
Then the woman enquired about the reason behind such horrible treatment saying “Is it because we have bombs, sir?”
The veiled women kept their temper throughout the entire incident. However, the manager continued to lash out at them.

AbstractIn part I of this article, Ayatollah Mutahhari elaborated on the definition, meaning, value, and effect of taqwa, or Godwariness, and self-restraint, as emphasized in the Qur’an and Nahj al-Balaghah. He demonstrated that 1) fear of God is, in fact, fear of His justice, 2) piety is more than merely performing religious duties, 3) taqwa is a freedom rather than a restriction, and 4) true perfection lies in a person’s freedom to do wrong and yet he or she refrains from doing so.In this article, Mutahhari offers an additional description of taqwa: it gives a person insight, or the ability to make correct decisions, and the strength to overcome difficulties. In order to achieve these qualities, a person must rid himself or herself of vain desires which hinder one’s ability to clearly reason and reach a virtuous state as a result.As stated in Part I of this article, the term taqwa refers to Godwariness and self-restraint. AbstractAbu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Babiwayh al-Qummi was one of the greatest scholars of Shi‘a Islam. His honesty, which eaed him the title al-Saduq, assisted him in his success as a great traditionist whose works deeply influenced those with a thirst for understanding Shi’a Islam, and particularly the teachings of Ahlul-Bayt (a). Though not exhaustive, this article makes accessible to the reader an understanding and reference of Sheikh Saduq’s life, works, students, and teachers. A summary of the political conditions during his time is also offered as this had an impact on his role as a scholar in that it gave him the opportunity to exercise his knowledge.

SHAFAQNA- Female police officers in Turkey will now be able to wear a headscarf as part of their uniform, according to a new ruling published on Saturday.
Turkey’s Official Gazette carries a new rule which will allow policewomen to wear a headscarf under their caps or beret on condition it be the same color as the uniform and without a patte.
Back in 2013, then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan introduced the lifting of headscarf bans in Turkey’s civil service as part of a broader democratization package.
Elsewhere, Police Scotland recently aounced that the hijab would become an optional part of its uniform to encourage more female Muslims to consider policing as a career option.
Muslim women police in London have been permitted to wear a hijab for the past decade.
